One of the great ways for you to overcome procrastination is by working as though you had only one day to get all your most important jobs done before you left for a month or went on a vacation. By putting the pressure on yourself, you accomplish more and better tasks, faster than ever before. You become a high-performance, high-achieving personality. You feel terrific about yourself, and bit by bit, you build up the habit of rapid task completion that then goes on to serve you all the days of your life.
- Brian Tracy, Eat that Frog
As the holidays rapidly approach us, you're probably doing this right now - rushing to prepare for your time out of the office. Perhaps some of us are working a tad too fast, and the occasional "uh oh" moments are happening all too frequently. What Brian Tracy is suggesting above is not that we all work like maniacs all the time, but that we take some of that haste and focus, and learn to apply it to increase our normal "work speed." If we can learn to work 1%, 5%, 10% faster all the time, think of how much more we can achieve each week, month, and year. This hurry-up also means that we are more critical about prioritizing our tasks and we prioritize those that truly need to be completed now, and delegate or delete those that don't. Make a resolution to try this technique out at the start of 2014 to set yourself up for more success in the new year.
Happy holidays from all of us at ProSolutions. Our offices will be closed from December 24 through January 1. We look forward to connecting with you again at the start of the new year.
