The economy is strong, customer preferences are expanding, and technological advances are moving at a fast pace. So what does that mean for the hospitality industry, more specifically hotel strategists and leaders? If hotels want to be major, thriving players, they better recognize what is happening in the hotel marketplace and try to keep pace with the trends, or better yet, be trend setters.
Serving the millennial generation calls for a change of routine, as they now represent the largest generation in the country. Millennials are known to be impatient yet pragmatic idealists, while also being known as authentic and transparent. These traits are what make them different from other generations and very unique customers.
Where are you in the spectrum of being ready for your 2020 customer? Over the last few weeks I have heard so many people talking about "time." "Where did April go?" and "Didn't we just celebrate the arrival of 2018?" Although I feel much the same way, the speed in which time is passing panics me a little bit, but also motivates me. There are so many items on my "to do" list that I want to accomplish before we celebrate 2019's arrival and that gets me going!

Where did January go? Are you still focused on your New Year's resolutions? Looking back through the rear view mirror (if you will) is an exercise I find interesting each year. What happened, what didn't, what is inevitably going to continue to happen, what do I want more of, less of, that sort of thing. Lot's of trend articles will surface about the previous year. This year, as I was reading through some of the top trends, I came across a very interesting article by Simone Puorto, called Five hospitality trends to keep an eye on in 2018. So instead of looking back, we are going to look to the future.
