What is the key to your success? Maybe just a little more training. Maybe a slightly better method of planning. Maybe just overcoming one tiny bad habit. Maybe all of these and more. Each change alone may be almost inconsequential, but when added up, a host of small changes can lead to incredible results!
-Ron Fry, How to Study
You've heard all the inspirational stories of people turning their relationships or their careers or their health around by making sweeping changes. And while these are amazing feats and the people are commendable, not all change happens that way. In fact, most of the time, we don't have the time or energy to make such changes. What often happens is we make grandiose plans, but then give up on them within a few weeks (I'm looking at you, New Year's resolutions).
Instead, as Ron Fry is reminding us, it's often the small things that add up to a big difference. Like gears in a machine, each small change causes another one to happen, then another, than another, and we see benefits in many areas, not just one, and our effort becomes multiplied. And as a benefit, starting small helps us overcome the procrastination factor.
So what small thing can you do today?
