Consider everything as a work in progress and don't panic if it doesn't work right yet. Remember Mosher's Law: "If everything worked right, you'd be out of a job."
One thing about a blog focusing on tips is that it is really all about self improvement in some way, shape, or form. You wouldn't be reading this if you weren't interested in being better at something or in helping someone else with the same goal. So if you consider yourself a "work in progress," it means the work you produce must be one, too. And this is a great idea, because it means two things:
- There is room for improvement. Not happy with the way something works or looks or sounds? Fix it!
- You can let yourself off the hook in terms of trying to make something perfect on the first try. Begin with a basic working version of the idea/process/skill/product, and then iterate over and over until you get it to a level you're happen with.
It is this ability to not be "locked in" to the way things are now that is so freeing about being a work in progress. So relax, find some inspiration, set your goals, and grow in 2015.
